This year’s Washington High School Cross Country team continued with the program’s tradition of excellence. For the 8th consecutive year, the girls’ junior varsity, girls’ varsity, boys’ junior varsity, and boys’ varsity teams earned the Distinguished Academic Award from the WIAA. Most notable for the girls' team is the fact that they qualified for the District Meet for the 9th consecutive year. Most notable for the boys' team is the fact that they have every Varsity runner, except one, returning next season. For League honors, both teams earned the Team Sportsmanship award with the boys’ team doing it for the 4th time in the last 5 years.
Over the course of the season, the girls’ team beat 54 other teams and the boys’ team beat 31 other teams. In the League, the girls’ team placed 5th and the boys’ team placed 5th. At the sub-District Meet, the girls’ team placed 10th and the boys’ team placed 12th. At the District Meet, the girls’ team placed 14th.
Special recognition goes to Joseph Dayonot and Gil Rabara, who tied the boys’ team season PR record (held by 9 other athletes) with 6 and Bonniesue Callahan and Sara Palmer who tied the girls’ team season PR record (held by 2 other athletes) with 7.
