lettuceOn Thursday, we learned that the district won a $200,000 grant from the Healthy Kids grant program provided by the State of Washington! The money will be used to construct teaching greenhouses on the Washington High/Keithley Middle campus, repair existing greenhouses at the district Farm on Waller Road, and install a produce washing station at the district farm to better enable our Nutrition Services department to incorporate fresh produce, grown locally, into student meals. There were 93 districts across the state that were awarded grant funds. And our district was one of only two districts statewide that won the maximum grant award of $200,000!
