New Student Enrollment


New students may enroll throughout the year. Call or visit your school to enroll your student and register for classes. If you are unsure which school serves your area, please call our district office at 253-298-3000 to request assistance.

Parent/guardians should bring the student’s birth certificate, shot records, and verification of residence to the school to register.
We encourage parents and guardians to enroll in person at the school office so that a school staff member can assist with any questions. Verification of residence can be one of the following items:

  • Escrow papers, mortgage book or statement, or property tax form;
  • Lease agreement/rental contract and current rent receipt;
  • Letter from apartment complex or mobile home park on company letterhead, signed by the landlord, stating that the parent/guardian lives there;
  • One of the following utility bills: gas, electric, phone (landline only, not cell), water, cable TV or garbage bill;
  • Residence insurance statement;
  • Verification of social services; or
  • Signed and notarized Franklin Pierce Schools Affidavit of Residence.

If you need assistance obtaining any of the required documents listed above, please contact your school office.

Limited online enrollment: Parents/guardians may choose to start the enrollment process online; please be aware that all parents/guardians will still need to bring in documents to the school office and sign original paperwork even if registration begins online.


Kindergarten Registration

Students who turn 5 on or before August 31, 2017 are eligible for entry into Kindergarten for the 2017-18 school year. Kindergarten registration for the 2017-18 school year will begin Monday, March 27th.

Parent/guardians should bring the student’s birth certificate, shot records, and verification of residence to the school to register.  Student Transfer Requests

It is the parent’s responsibility to complete a new transfer request each year if the student is attending a school outside the family's resident attendance area school/district. FPS district policies and procedures related to student transfer requests include FPS policies:

3131-District Attendance Area Transfers,
3140-Release of Resident Students, and
3141-Nonresident Students.

Franklin Pierce Resident Students

An electronic Choice Transfer form is used by residents of the Franklin Pierce School District who wish to enroll in another school district. Please complete this form online and submit it to our district office.

An electronic With-In District Student Transfer form is used by residents of the Franklin Pierce School District who wish to enroll their student in a Franklin Pierce school other than his/her school assigned by residence location. Step 1 - Parents complete this form online and submit it for review. Additional review steps are completed by district staff and the parents are notified by email when a transfer decision is reached. Parents of  a student applying to a school not previously attended will need to also submit grades, attendance, and discipline reports to the requested school for review. Please contact the school to arrange delivery of this information.

A paper Day Care Verification of Residency Statement form is used for elementary students who live in the Franklin Pierce School District and want to attend the Franklin Pierce elementary school in the area in which their daycare is located. Please print this form, complete it, and submit it to the school where you are requesting enrollment.

 

Non-Resident Students

Non-resident families who wish to enroll their student in the Franklin Pierce School District must provide a Choice Transfer release form from their resident district each year.

Additional items required for new students who did not last attend a Franklin Pierce school include:

  • Choice Transfer release form from the district serving the area where the student resides; PLUS,
  • Most recent student report card;
  • Attendance report; and
  • Discipline report

The Choice Transfer request will be entered electronically by the student’s resident district. The other items need to be delivered to the requested school by the parent/guardian before the request will be considered.
