Air Quality Being Monitored

Air Quality Being Monitored
Posted on 09/05/2017
NoticeWildfires in the region have increased the smoke and particulate matter present in our air. Franklin Pierce Schools has been monitoring conditions closely, checking in regularly with the Washington Department of Health, Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, and the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency.

As of Tuesday, September 5th at 11:30 a.m. the air quality index maintained by the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency listed our air quality as "moderate." This condition level still allows for outdoor recess to occur. Alternative indoor recess options are available to students. We are taking extra precautions with students who have previously diagnosed respiratory conditions.

The district will monitor conditions closely and update activity limitations as guidance from public health agencies recommends.
