Franklin Pierce Schools has received a $89,000 Grant to make improvements at the Natural Science Resource Center ("the Farm"), in an effort to create a state-of-the art indoor/outdoor learning space for students. High school students will have more opportunities to experience agriculture first-hand on the Farm.  Students will learn how to grow food and manage a large farm from seed to harvest while practicing leadership, teamwork, and business skills utilizing an outdoor learning model.

Over the past two years, Franklin Pierce staff, students, and community partners have collaborated to grow over 30,000 pounds of fresh produce distributed through school district cafeterias and shared with local food banks and hot meal sites. The grant funds will complement the current program and expansion of courses by investing in industry-standard infrastructure for small scale sustainable farming, and outfitting the classrooms to conduct high-level research in the agricultural sciences.
