Heather JonesOn Tuesday, September 1, over 7,600 students arrived at school to start the 2015-2016 school year. While most of the kindergarten students had looks of trepidation on their faces (a normal reaction), the older students were happy to be back to see their friends and school staff. And learning got underway immediately. Superintendent Hewins saw it firsthand.

Superintendent Hewins has a tradition on the first two days of school. He visits every school to greet students and staff, and to deliver welcome bags full of donated goodies to the new teachers hired over the summer. In all, the Superintendent delivered 86 welcome bags.

"I am happy that the 2015-2016 school year has already begun," said Hewins. "Our 'FPS Team' of professional educators and support staff were ready and eager to welcome students back to school. It will be a great year!"
