The Washington High School Math Team sent three competitors to the WSMC Regionals on Wednesday, March 6:  Gairet Nason (9th), Jolin Tito (10th), and Elijah Paez (11th).  ALL three qualified for STATE!

In a highly competitive evening of math on March 6th with six other local high schools, these students continued a precedent of representing the Patriots with excellence.  With problems ranging from Algebra and Pre-Calculus written at a complex application levels, Elijah took 2nd place overall in the Topical Individual portion while Jolin earned “Most Distinguished Sophomore” and Gairet earned “Most Distinguished Freshman.” This earns them each a seat at State, which will be held at CWU on April 13th.   Elijah and Gairet were also competitive in the Knowdown, a challenging three rounds of mental math.  Gairet advanced to the second round, a great accomplishment for a freshman.  Elijah battled into the sudden-death third round vying for the alternate’s place but coming up a bit short of a medal this year.

These students represented Washington High School, Franklin Pierce Schools and the broader community in amazing ways. Congratulations Gairet, Jolin and Elijah.
